Directed by Ravi Chhabriya, this murder mystery aspires to blend sharp whodunit thrills with dark comedy but stumbles into a mire of obvious twists and tired clichés, leaving little to uncover.
Diljit Dosanjh stars as Sherdil, a quick-witted detective whose theatrical flair—complete with mouth organ riffs and relentless charm—overshadows his sleuthing. His cheeky demeanor persists even amid grim circumstances, a trait that could have sparkled with sharper humor. Yet, despite its dark comedy billing, the film fails to elicit even a smirk.
The story kicks off with the murder of Pankaj Bhatti, whose will outrageously bequeaths his wealth to his pets and a single loyal employee. His family—each member a glaring suspect—reacts with predictable indignation. Sumeet Vyas plays Angad, the sneering son, while Ratna Pathak Shah’s Rajeshwari, a near-carbon copy of her iconic Maya Sarabhai, hams it up as the icy matriarch.
