The Bhootnii 2025 Movie Review

Co-written by director Sidhaant Sachdev and Vankush Arora, the story veers slightly from typical horror dramas and comedies, yet clings to familiar tropes: terrified friends (Aasif Khan and BeYouNick), creepy sounds, and nocturnal disturbances. Mohabbat, brimming with ‘nafrat’ (hate), channels classic revenge-horror as she targets Ananya and Baba.

The script attempts novelty with Mohabbat bluntly telling Shantanu she’s “not alive,” and Baba’s high-tech arsenal—digital cameras, monitors, and ghost sensors sweeping the campus. An acolyte tracks supernatural activity, enabling Baba to rescue Shantanu and Ananya in key moments.

But the film dives headfirst into absurdity. The college, with its boutique-hotel-style dorms, feels like a fever dream, openly fostering romance during annual festivities and endorsing paranormal probes. Long shots and close-ups of the campus feel disjointed, and the events are wildly implausible, lacking humor. The comedy, including the Baba-Mama “joke” from the trailer, lands with a thud, rooted in lowbrow gags.
